Professor Chen Swee Eng

Professor Chen Swee Eng is currently Academic Director (Higher Education) and Chair of the Built Environment Degree Programs at Holmesglen, Melbourne. Prior to this, he was Professor of Building, Director of the Centre for Infrastructure and Property, and Assistant Dean (International) at the University of Newcastle, Australia.
He has research interests in the area of built environment complexity, project performance, project team integration and buildability. His doctoral studies pioneered the application of complexity science to understanding building project performance.
He also a strong international reputation in higher education, particularly in academic administration, focusing on academic quality management, and in research and practice around innovative curriculum design, development and delivery, particularly the use of integrated problem-based learning. He has designed and developed a number of bachelor and masters degree programs in building and property in Australia and internationally and advised on numerous other programs and consulted to institutions internationally in the UK, Europe, Asia, New Zealand and Africa. He has been invited to give keynote presentations internationally in educational and professional conferences and workshops. He was conferred an Honorary Life Fellowship of the Singapore Institute of Engineering Technologists in recognition of his contribution to international education.
He has authored or co-authored more than 180 publications including books, book chapters, conference and journal papers, reports and theses.
