Student Experience Survey (SES)

APIC and its staff, like the other institutes of higher education (IHEs) under Education Centre of Australia, live by the ethos, “Small enough to CARE, Big enough to INSPIRE, Bold enough to ACHIEVE.” With ratings all above the national averages both in postgraduate and undergraduate levels, this ethos is reflected in the College’s outstanding 2023 Student Experience Survey (SES) results across the six indicators for Quality in Learning and Teaching (QILT).

APIC rated 87.8% for Student Support and Services in the postgraduate level (12.4 percentage points above the national average) and 83.2% in the undergraduate level (11.1 percentage points above the national average). This showcases the College’s dedication in providing support that is tailored to the needs of each unique student, ensuring they reach success in their academic journeys.

APIC also rated highly for Peer Engagement at 85.6% in the postgraduate level and 81.7% in the undergraduate level, which are 32.8 percentage points and 24.7 percentage points higher than the national averages, respectively. This proves that APIC is more than just a college, it is an engaging and thriving student community.

The academic staff teaching at the College are equipped with a wide range of qualifications that are well-aligned with APIC’s course offerings. They retain currency of practice and keep abreast with industry advancements through regular professional development. APIC’s Teaching Quality and Engagement ratings of 91.4% (postgraduate level) and 87.6% (undergraduate level) indicate that students agree.

APIC is also continuously looking into ways of improving its learning resources and providing more opportunities for students to hone their skills by bringing in the latest software and library databases, as well as running academic skills workshops amongst others. These ensure that APIC Graduates are well-equipped and ready as they step foot into their chosen careers.

The survey results are publicly available on ComparED.

“As Dean, I’m incredibly proud that our students consistently rate us above national averages across multiple measures. This reflects our dedicated team’s commitment to creating an environment where every student can thrive academically and personally.”

Unit Evaluation Questionnaire (UEQ)

Internally, APIC also assesses student satisfaction with various aspects of their academic experience, including course content, teaching quality, assessment tasks and overall unit quality. The College does this by running a Unit Evaluation Questionnaire (UEQ) survey each trimester.

In 2024, APIC achieved no lower than 90.0% annual average satisfaction rates across the UEQ’s unit evaluation and lecturer evaluation components. The College achieved satisfaction rates of 94.2% in terms of Overall Quality of Units and 94.6% in terms of Overall Teaching Quality.

Satisfaction rates for Unit Activities and Assessment Tasks are 94.1% and 93.5%, respectively. This reflects the rigorous academic work that goes into all the courses to ensure that the content of each unit assists with the students’ learning journey as well as clearly evaluates learning outcomes.

On top of their excellent teaching skills, APIC’s academic staff are supported and trained to provide timely and comprehensive Student Support and Feedback. This can be seen in the satisfaction rates achieved by the lecturers in these areas, 93.9% and 93.7% respectively.

Students can also expect to attend interactive classes where everyone is encouraged to contribute to discussions and learn from each other, with the College achieving a satisfaction rate of 92.3% for Class Engagement.

Apart from further cementing APIC’s place amongst the best higher education providers in Australia, these internal satisfaction rates allow the College to identify its areas of strengths, as well as constantly improve on every aspect of its academic offerings and services for students.
